This is dried Buckthorn bark extract powder sold by the ounce. Extracts are nice to use when you want especially saturated, vivid color.

The yellow yarn pictured, was dyed with yarn mordanted with alum, and I was especially taken with this shade of yellow, which is so vivid and I could immediately imagine it knitted in the yolk of a fair isle sweater. You can also use iron to sadden the color to a vivid olive green, if desired.
