Hopi Red Dye Amaranth seeds grown and harvested here in my gardens.

This is an edible plant, as well as a dye plant. The leaves and seeds are edible. However the seeds, while plentiful, are very tiny, so other types of amaranth that have larger seeds, are preferable for eating.

The deep red flowers, stems and dark foliage are beautiful in arrangements or ornamental in the garden. The plants grow to 4' tall.

Sow 1/4" deep. Germination is in 4-14 days. Plant in full sun.

Use flowers and stems for dyeing. Low heat solar dyeing should result in pink dye, while higher heat will result in orange colors, as shown in the listing pictures.
