This is Ramie top. It is a plant (bast) fiber from the Chinese Nettle plant....also known as Chinese Silk Plant. You can see why it's called Chinese Silk from the luster! It has a shiny appearance and feels silk-like, but with a little thicker fibers. As you can see in the pictures, it easily has a 6-7+" staple length.

It is one of the most common fibers in Japanese textiles, and makes a very strong fabric that is rot resistent.

It can be spun wet or dry. Spin wet for a smoother, more lustrous yarn.
