Single or Double Strand Sock Blank Yarn Blank Undyed Yarn Sock Yarn Fingering Wool Nylon
from $20.99
*Listing is for one undyed sock blank. Rainbow dyed sock blank is pictured only for inspiration.*
You can choose from a double strand sock blank or a single strand sock blank. The double strand blank is 2 strands of 75/25 SWMerino/Nylon sock yarn knit together, so that you can unravel them and knit two identical socks. It is 463 yards of yarn, double knit. The single strand blank is the same length but knit with one strand of yarn.
You get to choose which you'd like. In my experience, I find the double blanks easier to dye because the double knit makes them more absorbent. Unless you put something absorbent under the single blanks, the dye has a little more tendency to run underneath the blank while you are dyeing it and you can end up with dye where you don't want it.
Stop looking at those gorgeous gradient and self-striping yarns, and try dyeing some yourself!
