This undyed, Superwash Merino wool sock blank is 80% Superwash Merino Wool and 20% Silk. It is 400yards of yarn and 100 grams. 2 ply, fingering/sock weight. 22 WPI and 28sts and 52 rows per 4" on size 2 needles.

Undyed sock blanks are a lot of fun to dye gradient, self-striping or stamped! This sock blank is special because it has 20% Silk. Some people like to use silk in their sock yarns, but it makes a nice yarn for any project. Silk takes acid or natural dyes really well, as does superwash Merino wool.

Superwash processed wool can be laundered in the washing machine with no fear of felting. Superwash processed wool also takes acid or natural dye color more intensely and deeply. With acid dyes, the color strikes quickly where the dye is placed, so it is perfect for speckled and space dyed yarns. You can get deeper saturated colors on superwash yarns. Very fun to dye. I keep thinking I've got to dye myself some gradient tanktops with these sock blanks!
