1lb Previously Organic Polwarth Natural Bare Combed Top Wool Roving Undyed Wool Spinning Fiber for Dyeing Ecru

$53.99
This listing is for 1 lb of 100% fine Polwarth combed top that is the same wool, same sheep, same farmers, same land, as previously has been sold as Organic Polwarth wool, but the amount of wool that had to be purchased was prohibitive to being able to get the organic certification. So, same, fine Polwarth wool, same everything, just no official organic certification.

The wool was selected from two family farms on the Falkland islands and measures an incredible 22 microns. The fleeces were processed in the UK. Sheep that are raised organically are not subject to mulesing, and they are not dipped for pesticides. In addition, the number of sheep allowed to graze in any give pasture area is limited to the natural carrying capacity of the land. And as with most wool that comes from the Falklands, it is very white.

Noted for its elasticity, durability it is still considered a delicate fiber with bounce and drape, with an average staple length of 4-6". It is a better option than Merino for beginning spinners looking for next-to-skin softness without the slippery difficulty of other fine fibers.

Polwarth dyes easily and takes up dye evenly and has been increasingly popular with spinners.

All my roving is stored carefully in my pet-free, smoke-free home and is ready to ship right away, and sent first class USPS.
