Bamboo Merino 'Fiesta' Dyed Combed Top Plant Fiber Roving Dia De Muertos Fall Autumn

$14.99
This combed top is 80% Bamboo fiber and 20% Merino Wool.

This silky, shiny blend looks like it is all bamboo fiber, but it does have a small percentage of Merino wool. Bamboo spins really easily and nicely and makes a super, silky, slinky yarn. You can spin this from the end, or you can pull off a staple length and spin it from the fold.

Bamboo fiber is produced from the pulp of bamboo stems and leaves, and is obtained through a hydrolysis/alkalinization process. Bamboo fibers are naturally smooth and round even after processing. Bamboo fiber is very silky and cool, with a high absorbency that should keep you dry because the fiber is full of small pores and is hollow. This gives it a strong wicking effect that can absorb and evaporate moisture quickly.

Bamboo wicks away moisture from the body three to four times faster than cotton. It is naturally anti-microbial and antifungal. Bamboo is quick growing, so it is a very renewable resource.

This fiber has a nice 3-4" staple length, making it a nice length of spinning and blending with other fibers.

Bamboo contains a substance called 'Bamboo quinones' which kill bacteria. It is because of this antibacterial substance in bamboo, that there are few insects, and thus birds, in bamboo forests. Fewer insects because of less bacteria, means less birds to feed on the insects! So, bamboo fiber is excellent for use as towels or underwear or anything else that will benefit from being naturally inhibitive to bacteria.
