This is a dyed black Tussah Silk.

Tussah Silk is also called Tussar silk. Tussah silk is a type of wild silk produced by Antheraea silkworms, primarily found in India and other part of South Asia. It has long been valued for its silky, soft texture and natural golden tan color.

Tussah silk is considered more textured than cultivated Mulberry silk. The staple length is 5" versus the several inch length of Mulberry silk.

Apparently Tussah silk is even added to soap for a more luxurious feeling!
