This is a custom blend of dyed cellulose (plant) fibers that was blended for me by DHG shop. It is 25% Flax, 25% Hemp, 25% Cotton, 25% Ramie fibers.

Each of the colors is a different dyed plant fiber. The flax is the dark green color. The Hemp fiber is the olive green color. Cotton is the saffron yellow color and the Ramie is the navy blue color. So, as you spin, you'll be able to tell which fiber is which by the color it is!

I've been really interested in spinning more cellulose fibers for warm weather, since it's not always winter! The only cellulose blends that I've seen elsewhere have been mixed with wool, and I wanted a plant fiber-only blend. This blend is easy to spin from the fold by pulling off a staple length. I found it easy to spin very thin or thick, whichever you like. Because it has cotton and ramie blended in, it has a soft silkiness when plied.

The Ramie has a nice, silky long staple length, and is blended with flax fibers, that are longer than hemp fibers and the shortest fiber, is the cotton. The blend of the fibers and the addition of the Ramie, just makes this spin up pretty easily silkily from the fold.

Ramie top is a plant (bast) fiber from the Chinese Nettle plant....also known as Chinese Silk Plant. Ramie has a lot of luster, just like silk. It has a shiny appearance and feels silk-like, but with a little thicker fibers. Ramie is one of the most common fibers in Japanese textiles, and makes a very strong fabric that is rot resistent.

This blend of fibers is vegan friendly.
