The kit includes: a drop spindle w/ leader string attached, 1 oz each of 2 beautiful colors of domestic wool (2 oz total) perfect for spinning, and an easy to follow instruction sheet! The directions also include links to youtube videos for the 'park and draft' method of drop spindling, how to ply on a drop spindle, and how to finish your yarn! I include these links because I am a visual learner!

Learning to drop spindle before moving on to using a spinning wheel is a must! I am an impatient person and did not want to learn how to use a spindle before I hopped right on a spinning wheel, but it is an invaluable first step to learn how to draft, and learn how the yarn twists. It was much more fun, easier, and quicker than I had imagined. It's easy to do it while watching tv, and easy to take it with you when traveling!

I have made my own purse by spinning and plying on a drop spindle, using this same wool fiber included in the kit. I love the colors.

-spindle is unfinished wood and can be stained or painted to make it your own!
-whorl is 2 1/2" in diameter
-shaft is 11" long and finished with a brass plated hook
-roving is 100% domestic wool milled at a local PA mill

Spindle weighs 1.7 oz, making it not too light and not too heavy once spun yarn is added to the shaft.

If requested, I can make this a bottom whorl, just make sure to request that, but I believe top whorl is the easiest for beginners.
