This is natural flax combed top from a small family farm in Egypt. The flax is its natural color and has been water retted, because there is not dew and rain in egypt, so it cannot be dew retted. The flax is coarse and there is a picture showing the length of the fibers.

Flax is a thin, long-stemmed plant, but it is most often processed into shorter fibers that are aligned and made into what is called 'combed top'. Shortening the fibers this way makes the machines able to blend them with other fibers that have shorter staple lengths and then they have be spun into thread or yarn.
