Fine Ashford Hand Carders 108 ppsi HCLC Wool Spinning Fiber Handcards Handcarders Rolags Brushes Combs

$93.49
This is a boxed set of new Ashford hand carders. They are new and in the box, unassembled, which, just means that you need to screw the handles into place and you can put a dab of glue on the handles before you screw them in place if you want as well. Everything is in the box ready for you, you just need the wood glue, if you want to add a dab of that, and a screw driver to screw the screw that is provided into place.

The carding cloth on these handcards have 108 pins per square inch. Note the pictures that show the size of the carding area and over all hand card.

These are the handcards that I bought and use myself. I've had mine for several years, and I prefer these for any type of fine to medium fine wool or cellulose fibers. I have used these heavily to finish combing the fine flax that I grow as well and they hold up well. These are what I'd recommend to people, unless the person wants to work mostly with very coarse wools. For very coarse wools, then you may want hand cards that have fewer tines for per inch.

I prefer these handcards with this many tines because it really makes much shorter work of carding, because of the higher number of tines per square inch. I have tried to use handcards with heavier and fewer tines, and have really disliked it, and always go back to these.

For cotton, buy the longer cotton cards with even more tines per square inch that I also have available. I have a set of those and they are so perfect for cotton and I really like the larger longer size.
