This is a custom blend that was blended for me by DHG shop. It is a blend of plant fibers. It is 40% Ramie, 40% Flax, and 20% Cotton.
I've been really interested in spinning more cellulose fibers for warm weather, since it's not always winter! The only cellulose blends that I've seen have been mixed with wool, and I wanted a plant fiber-only blend. This Ramie/Flax/Cotton blend is the blend that I chose to spin first out of the 4 plant fiber custom blends that I had blended.
The Ramie has a nice, silky long staple length, and is blended with flax fibers, that are longer than hemp fibers. So, this has the longest overall staple length of the blends. It is silky, strong and soft with a 6-7" staple length. It will spin well from the fold.
Ramie top is a plant (bast) fiber from the Chinese Nettle plant....also known as Chinese Silk Plant. Ramie has a lot of luster, just like silk. It has a shiny appearance and feels silk-like, but with a little thicker fibers. Ramie is one of the most common fibers in Japanese textiles, and makes a very strong fabric that is rot resistent.
This blend of fibers is vegan friendly.
