Sandalwood wood chips, Red Sandalwood - Pterocarpus antalinus, come from a tree native to India and Indonesia. The heartwood yields oranges, browns and auburn shades of color, and you can see the beautiful shades that I got in the listing pictures.

It is best to soak the chips in rubbing alcohol for at least a day to extract the color from the chips before dyeing. Not only do you get beautiful color from this wood, but you get a spicy, fragrance as your dyeing!

Make sure to mordant your fiber before dyeing with sandalwood.
