This beginner drop spinning kit includes your choice of one stamped art spindle, along with instructions and 2 oz of wool. You also have your choice of which type of wool you would like with your spindle.

The whorl on these drop spindles have been hand-stamped and as you can see in the pictures, some of the designs are colored in with water colors. All of the designs get sealed with a light coating of wood wax. When using the colored designs, you see a whirl of color as you are spinning.

The spindles have 11" shafts and the whorls are 2 1/2" wide. It weight 1.7 - 1.8 oz, which I find a nice weight. Not too heavy and not too light. The rest of the spindle is natural wood with a brass hook at the top, and a leader string attached. Instructions with pictures and links to videos are included.

2oz of fiber is included with your choice of spindle. You have a choice between 2 types of beginner friendly dyed wools or undyed wool.

Choice 1: Domestic Wool sliver - you receive 1oz each of 2 complimentary shades of domestic wool sliver. This wool is in thinner 1" wide strips so you don't have to do too much drafting. Learning to draft well, is the most important lesson you need to learn while using a drop spindle before you move on to a wheel.

Choice 2: Cheviot Wool Combed top - you receive 1oz each of 2 complimentary shades of long staples Corriedale Wool Combed Top. Combed top is generally a thicker, denser strip of wool. There is more wool to deal with, so a beginner will need to do a bit more drafting to thin the fibers prior to spinning.

Choice 3: undyed wool- This will be Polwarth wool or Blue Faced Leicester or Cheviot. Occasionally someone doesn't want to learn on a dyed wool, so I give this choice also.

I will also send beginner spinning instructions along with this spindle. So, this listing has all the choices....it's beginner spindle kit, but with choice of wool and choice of art spindle!
