This is superwash processed, 23 micron Merino wool combed top. It is a nice thick roving that is a little silky feeling to the touch and to spin because of that superwash processing.

Superwashed wool allows you to be able to launder this wool and dye this wool without fear of it felting. The superwash process removes and/or covers the scales on the wool fibers that cause the wool to felt when water temperature is changed when washing or dyeing the wool, or it is agitated in warm water.

Superwash Wool does not work for water or needle felting because the scales are removed or covered that help the wool fibers interlock when being felted.
